Abdominal Liposuction

Abdominal liposuction is a body contouring treatment that removes excess fat from the midsection for a more slender figure. If months of dieting and long hours in the gym have failed to eliminate your stubborn fat, abdominal liposuction with VASER or VASER Hi-Def can enhance your muscle definition for a smoother, more sculpted physique. About Abdominal Liposuction

Abdominal liposuction strategically removes stubborn fat with suction. The body contouring procedure is minimally invasive and is especially helpful for eliminating subcutaneous fat that does not respond to lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise. Liposuction is one of the top five most popular procedures for its efficient and effective results; surgeons performed the procedure 491,000 times in 2021. (1) It permanently removes the fat (adipose) cells to help you achieve a slimmer, more athletic figure in just a few hours.

Types of Abdominal Liposuction

The type of abdominal liposuction you receive will depend on your aesthetic objectives. At Denver Liposuction Specialty Clinic, we use VASER to sculpt your abdomen to help you meet your body goals:

  • VASER Lipo: VASER (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance) is an advanced form of liposuction that uses a special ultrasonic probe to break up and emulsify fat for easy removal. This process allows for safer, more precise sculpting, making it an ideal choice for those seeking more defined abdominal contours.
  • VASER Hi-Def: VASER Hi-Def precisely accentuates abdominal muscles for enhanced definition and a coveted “six-pack” look. VASER Hi-Def utilizes ultrasound energy to selectively break up and remove unwanted fat deposits, resulting in a contoured, toned, and athletic appearance.

What is Awake Liposuction?

Over half of the surgeries at Denver Liposuction Specialty Clinic are awake procedures. Unlike traditional liposuction, which often requires general anesthesia, awake liposuction uses a combination of local anesthesia and mild sedation. This helps patients forego the unwanted side effects and risks associated with general anesthesia. One of the significant advantages of awake liposuction is its faster recovery time. Since it is a minimally invasive procedure, patients can resume their daily activities within a shorter period. Although individual recovery times may vary, most patients experience minimal downtime compared to traditional liposuction.

Abdominal Liposuction Benefits

  • Precision Body Sculpting: VASER liposuction allows for precise contouring of the midsection, giving patients full control over their desired aesthetic outcomes.
  • Minimally Invasive Procedure: VASER liposuction is a minimally invasive technique that requires small incisions, resulting in minimal scarring and reduced downtime compared to traditional surgery.
  • Targeted Fat Reduction: The ultrasound energy used in VASER liposuction specifically targets fat cells while preserving surrounding tissues, nerves, and blood vessels.
  • Natural-Looking Results: Abdominal liposuction with VASER provides natural-looking results that enhance your existing physique without the appearance of an artificial or overdone appearance.
  • Enhanced Muscle Definition: VASER Hi-Def precisely eliminates surrounding fat deposits around muscle groups, allowing the underlying musculature to be more visible and defined.
  • Confidence Boost: Achieving a well-defined and sculpted physique can boost your self-confidence and improve your body image, allowing you to feel more comfortable in your own skin.

Abdominal Liposuction Candidates

If you wish to eliminate excess fat and target multiple areas of the body in one session, you are likely a good candidate for VASER liposuction. If you have several areas you would like to treat, we can eliminate pockets of excess fat in one appointment for long-lasting results. Busy individuals who are not seeing the results they would like from dieting and exercise can finally achieve their dream body. If you have a condition that will affect your ability to heal, such as a bleeding disorder, you may not be the best candidate for the procedure. Similarly, if you have excess skin or poor skin elasticity, we may recommend another procedure to help you reach your goals, such as a tummy tuck.

Abdominal Liposuction

During your consultation, we will ask about your medical history, medications, and previous procedures. Please come prepared to discuss your body goals and lifestyle. A consultation at Denver Liposuction Specialty Clinic is the crucial first step in determining if abdominal liposuction is the right fit for you.

We will take time to thoroughly discuss your goals and support you during every step of the process for exceptional results that enhance your natural beauty. Liposuction is completely customizable, and during your abdominal liposuction procedure we can also remove fat from the:

How to Prepare for Abdominal Liposuction

One to two weeks before your liposuction procedure, you will need to stop taking blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin and ibuprofen. We strongly recommend that you quit smoking and avoid nicotine-containing products for at least four weeks before surgery and throughout the entire recovery period. Smoking can impair healing and increase the risk of complications. You will need to arrange for someone you trust to drive you home and care for you for the first 24-48 hours for the best results. We also recommend that you prepare your meals ahead of time to prevent taking trips to the store while your body heals.

Abdominal Liposuction Procedure

Before your procedure, we will use the appropriate anesthesia to prepare you. After infiltrating the abdomen with tumescent fluid, a solution that contains saline, epinephrine, and the numbing agent lidocaine, your surgeon will make a small, discrete incision to insert the VASER probe. Tiny bubbles caused by the ultrasonic energy induce a cavitation process that dislodges and emulsifies the fat cells, making them easier to remove. They then use suction to remove fat for a slimmer appearance. If you are receiving VASER Hi-Def liposuction, your surgeon will strategically remove some fat deposits and leave others to create well-defined, natural-looking “six-pack” abs.

About Pro-Nox

We use Pro-Nox, a 50/50 nitrous oxide/oxygen pain reliever and anesthetic that relieves anxiety. It helps you stay awake but relaxed during your treatment, and you can inhale it for comfortable sedation. The safe and well-tolerated analgesic wears off quickly after the procedure so you can resume your daily routine without the lingering side effects of general anesthesia. (3)

Abdominal Liposuction Recovery

VASER liposuction has a shorter recovery time because it is gentler and easier on the body. You can return to your normal routine within a few days and we will provide detailed post-operative instructions to optimize your healing process, however, you should avoid strenuous activities and heavy lifting for at least three weeks after surgery. It is essential to give your body time to heal properly and ensure optimal results.

Abdominal Liposuction Results

Patients can generally expect a well-defined appearance with enhanced muscle definition and improved body contours after abdominal liposuction. It is important to note that individual results may vary based on factors such as skin elasticity, underlying musculature, natural healing ability, exercise routine, and overall lifestyle. After a VASER abdominal liposuction procedure, you can enjoy a smooth, athletic contour for many years. Many patients also find that their clothes fit better and they feel more confident in their body.

Other Procedures

At Denver Liposuction Specialty Clinic, we understand that every patient has unique goals, which is why we offer a range of body contouring options beyond liposuction.

Tummy Tuck

Weight changes, particularly after pregnancy, can cause excess skin and a weakened core in the abdominal area. A tummy tuck eliminates excess skin and repairs separated abdominal muscles to help you get your old body back. During a tummy tuck, your surgeon will make a discrete horizontal incision along the bikini line that can be easily hidden beneath your clothing. The procedure has long-lasting results and will allow you to enjoy a more slender figure for many years to come.

Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

Using the fat from your abdomen, we can perform a fat transfer to your buttocks to help you achieve volume and emphasize your curves. A BBL allows you to achieve a fuller, more voluptuous buttock appearance, creating an attractive and balanced body contour. By removing excess fat from undesirable areas and transferring it to the buttocks, a BBL helps create more proportionate body contours and a better-defined waistline.

FAQ

Will I need more than one abdominal liposuction treatment?

Since liposuction removes fat cells permanently, you will only need one appointment. However, if you gain weight in the future from aging or pregnancy, you may need additional treatment to meet your goals.

How long does an abdominal VASER Hi-Def procedure take?

The duration of VASER Hi-Def for the abdomen can vary depending on the individual case. Factors such as the extent of treatment and whether additional procedures are being performed alongside VASER Hi-Def will impact the length of the procedure. We will provide you with an estimated timeline based on your personalized treatment plan during your consultation.

Is general or local anesthesia better for an abdominal liposuction procedure?

Deciding whether general or local anesthesia is the best fit for you will depend on your medical history. If you have had issues with anesthesia in the past, general anesthesia may not be the best fit for you. We can discuss your lifestyle and body goals during your consultation.

Is abdominal liposuction the same as CoolSculpting?

No. CoolSculpting freezes fat cells to damage them, making it easier for the lymphatic system to flush them out of the body, whereas liposuction immediately removes excess fat. Coolsculpting procedures require more than one session to help you achieve results, but liposuction requires only one session.
