We are humans. We need to walk. We enjoy dancing and sports. It is a lot easier and enjoyable when our legs are in their best shape so we can show them off. Unfortunately, with age and genetic predisposition, we can end up with less than appealing legs. It makes us self-conscious, and it quickly becomes a vicious circle. The lesser we exercise, the more fat our legs retain, and we become shy.

Full Leg Liposuction can break that spiral by giving you a push in the right direction. You can have lipo done on your outer-thighs, inner thighs, knees, calves, ankles, and cankles.

Vaser, Waterlipo, and SmartLipo are techniques used to removed large amounts of fat on the anterior leg and saddlebags.

Problem areas like the inner knee and the thigh gap can easily be remedied in a skilled surgeon’s hands.

Removing fat deposits will give you the confidence to get moving again. Nothing can stop you when you feel good at the beach or the dance floor.

What are Leg Liposuction Procedures?

Today, most liposuction procedures are done by gently removing fat with a suction straw right under the skin where the fat cells reside. The method is called tumescent liposuction.

Liposuction techniques have been around since the 1970s. With significant advancements in anesthetics and laser technology, doctors can now remove up to 5 lbs. of excess fat in one operation.

It is done as an outpatient procedure using the awake method, which means you can talk to the doctor during the whole process, which lasts under two hours.

Inner thigh Liposuction (thigh gap)

Men and women often complain of chaffing in the inner-thigh area. This is common with women following pregnancy. This can be remedied as part of a leg liposuction procedure.

Outer thigh Liposuction (saddlebags)

Nothing is more unflattering than hips with fat deposits in the lower part. Removing these saddlebags is one of the most requested lipo procedures we provide. Outer thigh liposuction is often combined with a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift).

Are you ready for Leg Liposuction?

Beach holidays are fast approaching, and leg liposuction works well if you plan ahead. Some surgery procedures take from three to six months to show their full effects. We advise patients to have their surgery planned well ahead of the season and be ready to show off their new bodies.

To be ready for leg lipo, here are a few tips to make the investment worth it:

  • You must be close to your ideal weight (BMI below 30)
  • Be in good health (not be using blood-thinning medication)
  • Have sufficient skin elasticity in the treatment area
  • Willing to follow instructions from your surgeon pre-and post-op.
  • Understand that liposuction is not a replacement for proper diet and exercise
  • Thigh Liposuction is not going to remove cellulite or replace a monitored weight loss program.

A Good candidate ends up happy with the results if he/she meets the six requirements stated above.

What happens during your surgery?

Patients always want to know how the day is going to go by. They have often seen videos where doctors wiggle their magic wands under the skin of the patient. This can be intimidating, but let’s go through the whole procedure so you know what to expect.

After a review of your tests, the doctor is there to put you at ease. Together you will go over exactly all the work you want to be done. The surgeon will answer your questions to make sure you are comfortable.

The whole procedure is performed using the awake method. It means that with a mild oral sedative, you are kept awake and relaxed. There is no need for general anesthesia. You will then be prepped for surgery and wheeled -in.

The operation starts by freezing the cannula’s entry points (the powered straw or, as we call it, the magic wand). Once these points are numb, the doctor makes the incision to insert the cannula and injects a combination of a numbing agent (lidocaine) and a coagulant to reduce bleeding.

The actual removal of fat cells and fat tissues is done using different techniques. If body sculpting is required, the cosmetic surgeon will use a three-wavelength laser to precisely remove the exact amount of fat necessary. This allows your legs to have symmetry and natural proportions. Body contouring is an art and should only be trusted in the hands of liposuction experts.

Stubborn fat ins some areas of the body may require additional work to sculpt your legs, but this is done during the surgery.

In some instances, patients may want to have their fat recycled and reinjected in their breasts or buttocks, which gives them pleasing curves and a youthful lift. Call it fighting the effects of age and gravity. This will be done immediately to improve the chance of survival of fat cells. This is called a fat transfer procedure: BBL (Brazilian butt lift) for butt cheeks and FTBA (fat transfer breast augmentation) for a bosom lift.

Once the surgery is completed, the doctor will give you instructions on keeping the incision sites clean and what you should be doing over the next few days.

You are then to be driven home to rest and let the medication’s effects wear off.

It is vital to have a plan to rest for a few days.

What can I expect after surgery?

No two patients are alike. Some recover quickly, and others need a bit more downtime. Obviously, the first thing that will happen is the anesthetic will start to wear off gradually. It can be replaced by a sensation of numbness and maybe slight pain. You need to remember you had fat tissue removed, so it is normal to feel some discomfort and puffiness. That is why you may have been prescribed some pain medication for the first few days.

You must wear your compression garment at all times during your recovery period. It will keep your legs from swelling and allow new collagen to fill out the surgery’s common areas.

You will need to follow a proper diet rich in fresh produce and lean protein. This will allow for a quicker recovery and the production of new collagen. This is the best way to have your skin look youthful and taught.

Water is the key to life. It is definitely important to stay hydrated after surgery. It will help your system get rid of the dead tissues and toxins after your fat removal procedure.

Avoid smoking and alcohol during your recovery period. Otherwise, it will definitely lengthen your recovery period. In many cases, tobacco’s constricting effects can reduce new blood vessels’ production and leave the treated area uneven. Alcohol can have a different impact by bloating the site and losing the sculpted effect.

Within a week, the swelling will have come down. You can resume normal activities that include walking for short distances.

It is recommended to avoid baths, hydrogen peroxide, cold and hot packs during your recovery.

Once your incision points have entirely closed, you can resume your normal activities.

As with all surgeries, try not to overdo it at the gym after lipo treatments. Let your body tell you when the time is right and stop immediately at the first feeling of pain.

What is the cost of Leg liposuction?

We mentioned earlier that they are many areas in the leg that can receive lipo treatment. To give you an estimate, it is always best to meet the doctor in person to get a professional and accurate quote.

In the meantime, here are a few basic numbers to give you an idea. A surgery usually starts at $3,000 and varies from there. The price will change with your weight and the number of procedures you require.

There is a limit to the number of procedures that can be performed in one visit. It is based on your physical condition and calculated on the numbing agent’s volume (lidocaine) that is safe to take. The good news is that most liposuction sites are done in one visit only.

The maximum amount of fat that can safely be removed in one surgery visit is usually five lbs.

Financing available

Tumescent liposuction has long-lasting results. Often, new fat will not come back to the areas that received liposuction. It can take three to six months to see the full effects of lipo. It is always better to start early when it comes to liposuction.

With that in mind, we have collaborated with several professional medical financing institutions to offer customized plans to fit any budget. This should not stop you from getting started and have your new legs ready to do some walking!
