Cellulite is a benign condition characterized by fat deposits pushing against connective tissues, resulting in a dimpled or “orange peel” texture. Approximately 80-90% of women experience cellulite on the thighs, buttocks, and/or hips, (1) and it usually does not diminish through dieting or exercise. Although harmless, many women are frustrated by the appearance of cellulite and seek treatments to address it. While there is no cure for cellulite, there are multiple procedures available that can reduce its appearance.
At the Denver Liposuction Specialty Clinic, we have a unique understanding of fat removal procedures, giving us better insight into cellulite treatments. To reduce the appearance of cellulite, we use Cellulaze technology.

About Cellulite Reduction
Cellulite occurs when the fibrous bands beneath the skin pull down on the underlying fat. When the fat is under pressure, dimple-like divots can form. Commonly affected areas include the buttocks, thighs, or legs. It usually appears between the ages of 20 and 30 and can be a source of embarrassment for many; The dimpled skin makes it difficult to feel comfortable wearing revealing clothing or swimsuits.
Our cellulite reduction treatment features Cellulaze—a breakthrough laser technology that targets the root causes of cellulite beneath the skin. Cellulaze uses a 1440 nm Nd:YAG laser to address the fibrous connective bands (septa) and fat distribution that contribute to the appearance of cellulite.
Cellulaze’s SideLight™ pulsed laser delivery system precisely targets and melts fat deposits, while also releasing the tight septae that pull down on the skin and create dimpling. The ThermaGuide™ intelligent temperature control ensures safe, effective energy delivery that also stimulates collagen production, helping to tighten and rejuvenate the skin.
Cellulaze is a minor, single-session procedure that typically requires about a week off work. Results continue to improve over time, with studies showing increased skin thickness and elasticity—and lasting results for at least a year post-treatment. (2)
Hormones and Cellulite
Hormonal fluctuations can contribute to cellulite development and change the distribution of fat cells in the body. Hormonal imbalances and genetic predisposition make women more susceptible to cellulite, as a decrease in estrogen levels corresponds to an increase in the size of fat cells. Weight gain can make its appearance more pronounced, and if you have naturally thin skin, it might be even more visible. As women approach menopause, reduced blood flow and diminished collagen levels bring out fat deposits under the surface, often contributing to a lumpy appearance. (3)
Aging and Cellulite
Aging also often results in thinner, looser, less elastic skin. This leaves fat deposits more visible and distorts your contours. Different genetic constructs and metabolism speeds also affect the presence of cellulite, as will diet and lifestyle habits, all of which will shift as you age.

Candidates
Most individuals who are burdened by the appearance of cellulite may be eligible for our cellulite reduction treatment. However, they should have realistic expectations for their results and be in good general health. If you have a history of diabetes, tumors, or hypertension, we may have to find alternative treatment options. During a consultation, our patient coordinators will assess your cellulite and medical history to determine your candidacy.
Consultation
Your cellulite reduction journey begins with a personal consultation. During this meeting, a patient coordinator will discuss your medical history, aesthetic goals, and current medications, and then they will inspect the distribution and severity of your cellulite. With this information collected, they will create a personalized treatment plan alongside one of our expert surgeons.
Our patient coordinators will provide as much information as possible about the cellulite reduction process. We encourage patients to express their goals openly and ask any questions they may have. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities, and this meeting is time dedicated to creating a plan that delivers your goals.
Schedule your consultation today to begin exploring your cellulite reduction options. If you have any further questions or prefer to schedule over the phone, please call our Denver office at (720) 372-2155.
Preparation
We will provide specific preparation instructions based on your specific treatment plan. Patients are advised to stop taking medications and supplements that thin the blood, and nicotine or alcohol use should also be ceased. We also ask that you arrange transportation home from your procedure and take time away from work to rest—typically just one week away is required.
After Your Treatment
This straightforward procedure only requires taking about one week off work. Most patients can resume light daily activities within a day or two. Mild bruising, swelling, or tenderness may occur in the treated areas, but these effects are temporary. While initial improvements may be visible within a few weeks, optimal results often continue to develop over the next 3 to 6 months as collagen builds and the skin tightens.
Results

Cellulite reduction lets you confidently enjoy smoother skin that allows you to dress in revealing outfits and swimsuits. After cellulite reduction, you will likely feel freer to enjoy fun activities that you might’ve avoided before. Many people report feeling more comfortable in their bodies and notice an overall improvement in skin tone and texture. As circulation improves and swelling decreases, your skin takes on a firmer, more youthful appearance.
Corresponding Procedures
Fat Transfer
A fat transfer is a procedure that uses your own fat to increase the volume of various features. Unlike dermal fillers that dissolve over time, a fat transfer is long-lasting. Fat transfers can address the breasts, hands, buttocks, face, and more, and they offer the dual benefit of reducing fat in one area while enhancing the appearance of another. When combined with cellulite reduction, fat transfer can further contour the body and create smoother, more balanced results.
Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)
A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a procedure that adds volume to the buttocks for a smoother, curvier appearance. This procedure employs the fat transfer techniques mentioned above. A BBL will improve the volume of your buttocks without long incisions or implants. When paired with cellulite reduction, a BBL can further enhance the smoothness and contour of the buttocks for a more refined, sculpted look.
Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck is a body sculpting procedure that removes excess abdominal skin for a smoother, more toned midsection. Droopy abdominal skin, which affects body proportions, is common after aging, weight fluctuations, and pregnancy. By making a thin incision beneath the underwear line, we can remove excess skin and tighten abdominal muscles to give you a torso you will be proud of. When combined with cellulite reduction, a tummy tuck can further enhance skin texture and contour, delivering a more seamless appearance.
